"There is no such thing as society"

Margaret Thatcher

Lost Britannia

Hello dear readers,

In my three years in Britain I have immersed myself in an unexpectedly strange world. Starting with the low wages and high cost of living, the strange self-perception of the nation and the crumbling healthcare system, to the political system which is seen as the cradle of modern democracy, but has thrown important democratic principles overboard.

I had the impression that not only the citizens, but British society itself is struggling to survive. No wonder, since most of their principles and the solutions of those responsible, are based on a long gone past, that was actually quite different to what people believe.

It quickly became clear that my wife and I wanted to leave the UK. But before we could, the pandemic struck and my better half, a doctor, was essential.

During the lockdowns I supported her wherever I could and started to write down our experiences.

By now, we are not only in the middle of our move to Germany, but I have finished my manuscript.

I combine everyday experiences with historical, social and political context, to provide a unique insight into British society.

I believe with my work that recent events, such as the Brexit and Corona chaos, but also future upheavals, will be easier to understand. And they will come, definitely.

I am looking for an interested publisher to publish my manuscript. But if you already want to get insights into the depths of British society, you should visit my blog (see above), where I will release some excerpts and new comments.

Have fun while reading!
